Uncanny Christmas
On Saturday Primary studios held a Christmas party fundraiser called uncanny Christmas. I'm familiar with primary as its where From the ground up is located. Julian was running the photobooth so asked myself and some friends to go down and help, it was good to gain some first hand studio photo portrait experience. We decorated the room we were in, the theme was pagan so it was particularly cosy witchy vibes to the room. I was quite anxious to go to this event, despite wanting to I don't usually go to parties. It’s been over 3 years since I've been out late in town. But I enjoyed myself and I'm happy I went, I feel like its opened up the possibility of parties for me. My stars were used as both decoration for the room and props for the photos. For the process of the photos we would have people come through, to start they'd get their face painted with black marks or symbols, then we'd dress them up in various items, there was a mixture of items from sheets to hulk gloves, we just felt the vibe of the person and dressed them accordingly. This combination of marks, dressing and posing created quite bizarre photos but the contrast between the natural pagan vibes with more contemporary elements created an interesting parallel. I enjoyed doing this event, its definitely given me more confidence in approaching photography events and studio photography in a more professional setting. This was also a good opportunity for networking with fellow creatives in the Nottingham community and showing face.
