Workshop
Star making workshop
Last Tuesday I held a willow star making workshop for the 1st and 2nd years In the BA studio. I had a meeting later that evening about an upcoming party that I needed to attend but as it was later i needed something to do. With my anxiety I can’t let myself sit and think too long or anxious thoughts will creep in, so I needed something to fill the time between normal college time finishing and the meeting, so it was suggested I try put on a Workshop for anyone else who wanted to stay late. I was making willow stars as props for the party so decided to try use the workshop as a way to combine the two. I was pleasantly surprised when almost all of the 1st years came through, I honestly wasn’t really expecting anyone to come through so despite being prepared it caught me off guard slightly. Despite my anxieties I’ve always felt quite comfortable in teaching others how to do things if it’s something I’m confident with, I quite enjoy it. This became a really nice opportunity to get to know the 1st years better and do something together. This also helped me realise that workshop are something I might want to continue outside of college, I enjoy the process and believe I have quite a few skills that could be transferable and accessible to others. If I want to do this I would have to start thinking about more logistical things link DBS checks depending who I’d want to work with.
