 Embroidery hoops

When looking at our project of lace legacy and the Newstead abbey exhibition I decided to create 3 embroidery hoops. This was a small collective piece with two other class mates. Below are photos and a talk through the process of the hoops I created independently. 

To begin with I dyed my pieces of fabric with inks using nature as my inspiration when picking colours. I used old lace designs I found at Debbie Bryan’s as my reference for 2 of the hoops. For my final hoop I created my own lace design including a fern motif and used that. I added beads in places I thought relevant to highlight the prestige lace once held. I am very happy with the end result of my embroidery hoops.
