Studio practice
Lino printing
Following on from my research into the Victorian fern craze I’ve decided to progress my thoughts further towards natural history and it’s impact on the arts. During our week break I’ve done some practices at home. I’ve been walking looking at fungi and mushrooms and using them for photos. Then using those photos for my Lino cuts and sketches. I bought an at home Lino kit and I’m am very pleased with how they’ve turned out but it was definitely more difficult to produce a good print for the lack of space and having to hand press. Next time id definitely like to make the edges crisper and perhaps experiment with other ink color . I have used a variety of different papers and backgrounds, including book pages and spore prints I took of the mushrooms themselves.
