Studio practice

Lino prints

Over the weekend I decided to carve a lino block and create some prints to support my project. I created a design from images I had of my objects and got carving. I enjoy carving into Lino and believe I’ve had enough practice now that I’m beginning to feel confident with the medium. Once all carved out I got printing, I printed onto a variety of papers, choosing brown paper and some fancy cards, I did only have black ink at home so I decided to take my Lino block into class with me a create some more prints with the resources there. Here I had  a lot more choice in papers and ink colour, choosing card, black paper and tracing paper and a range of ink colours. My favourite print is the one on tracing paper with the baby pink and white inks, I mixed the ink colour myself and love the way it turned out, this very childlike innocent colour against the strange objects and transparent background gives an even larger hint of curiosity. Later I wanted to try out something different so I added gold leaf onto some of the prints, my favourite one is the black white and gold print as I think the others look quite busy with the added gold leaf.
