 Slip casting

After leaving my plaster mould to dry for 24 hours it was time to pour slip into them. I chose a white earthenware slip to use as it was the best for the glaze choices I want to make later. I poured the first bottle but it tore in the de-moulding wich is apparently common. I poured another, left it to set for around half an hour, then poured the excess slip back out. I’ve been leaving my bottles to set until the next morning. I did a process called fettling to clean up the raw edges, this is where you use a shape blade at a 90 degree angel to scrape of the excess clay on the seam line, after you take a barely wet sponge to just smooth out the edges.
