Painting experiments

At this point it the project it was Easter break and i was feeling rather lost and confused within my project, I believe I was trying to push to many half cooked ideas to far to the point where it was just causing indecision and confusion, so I decided to take the Easter break as a time to reflect on my previous ideas and experiment with new ones.

I have many old 12" by 12" canvas board panels at home so I re-used them for the experiments. To begin I painted shadows from images I had just to get to grips with the techniques of painting shadows abstractly but in a visually pleasing way. As a clean break and refresh I chose to use bright contrasting colours opposed to the dark almost greyscale colour palette I was previously trying to work in.  After i kind of freed myself from this self inflicted constraint I kind of realized that I do really enjoy dark moody colours in a sense of fashion and personal taste but when it comes to painting I find much more joy working in bright vivid colours. I felt like i was trying to force myself to work in these dark colours to the point it became more of an annoyance than enjoyable so it felt like it was capping my good ideas. This activity lead me to a completely new path of thinking driven by painting that gave me a positive sense of direction on how to fully form these little experiments into a fully formed project.
