 Devon Walz  

Devon Walz is a mixed media artist and muralist currently based in California. Instead of taking an art course Walz actually completed her BA in Philosophy at UC Berkley and this study along with other interest highly impacts and informs her creative practice, her work is also inspired by psychology, world-building, femininity and childhood. Walz's use of bright and pastel colours and this world building aspect is what drew me to the paintings. I really like how she almost overuses the colours giving a false nostalgia and errie feeling to the work. 

I do think this artist perhaps would have fit better as research for my last project but i still believe there's relevant qualities to my current work. Within my own paintings ive tried to transform the shadows into these kind things with a sense of other worldly realms through use of similar colour. Despite having different narratives and motives behind the creation of these paintings the approach and idea is rather similar.
