Collagraph print
To begin to push my ideas around sign posts I decided I just had to get making something to get my ideas moving and evolving. I decided to created a collagraph print of the original image that first inspired me. The whole collagraph process was unfamiliar to me so a fellow classmate helped and walked me through it.
This was obviously my very first attempt trying this process so the print isn't perfect but I am still pleased with it and enjoyed learning a new process. One thing I am quite pleased about is the text in the print as I had to make sure it was inverted when carving the plate which did pose quite the brain tester. I did choose a rather flat image with left quite little option for texture so I should choose a better image if I try this again. Also I need to be more vigilant about cleaning up my plate of excess ink before printing to get a nice crisp print.
