Artist research

Shizuka Yokomizo

I found this work as two of the images from the Dear stranger photograph series are currently in the same exhibition at Nottingham castle and a friend chose to respond to them for her project, when she had been speaking to me about a bit of the context research she had done, a particular bit inspired me and sparked my interest. These are a collection of images taken by an artist of strangers through their windows, the photographs themselves are lovely images and very interesting but I was more inspired by the way the artist organised getting the images taken. She sent out a text piece asking people for participation and if they were willing instructed them on what she wanted of them. The text piece she sent out was fairly basic in instruction and to me looks as if it was just drawn up on like a word document and printed. I liked this quite basic and detached way of connecting with others and thought this could be a good way of getting lots of images in a small time frame. I decided to  write up a small bit of text myself asking for people to send me images of their bedside tables and post it to both my personal and art social media along with having it posted to the colleges Instagram and friends accounts to try and get the best reach possible.
