Idea testing  

Today I sewed leaves to my tights. I did this as a test for an idea I have for a new performative piece, the basic idea is collecting the leaves I take and pass when walking and attach them to myself, kind of becoming one of the leaves or bringing attention to them. I had the idea to attach them to my tights as in my normal life patterned, colourful and fun tights are something frequently enjoy wearing, I also really liked this idea of taking the leaves for a walk, so it just seemed fitting. Today I decided to test out the idea to see if there was anything I needed to alter, I did find things that needed changing. Originally I was wrapping the thread round the stems as I thought it would hold but soon found I did actually have to sew into the leaf for them to stay. I think I may change the thread colour, perhaps to red or green, green will tie in with the leaf but red will contrast it and could give conations of blood, not sure which way to go yet. For this performative action I think I will go to different places to sew the leaves into my clothing, places like coffee shops, the library, the train. I will document this in journal form, I think maybe some video and photography, still undecided.
