 Artist CV’s

A few weeks ago we had a talk on the topic of artist CVs. Artist CVs are different to a regular cv, instead of clean text consisting of skills and grades an artist cv has a more lucid approach, still having text but instead its consisting of an artist statement, and exhibition lists, and unlike a regular cv its encouraged to make it visually interesting with images and personalisation showing your character.

In response to the talk we were asked to look at an  artists cv, make notes on it and begin thinking about our own. I found it difficult to find an artist I haven't written about before as the larger well known artists have no need for artist CVs, I looked through a few and decided on Sophie Tea.  Sophie Teas CV is spread out a little different to the others we were shown, instead of having a page dedicated to her CV the information was more integrated across the whole of her website, in the drop down bar she has different options for things like press, shop and gallery. Her artist statement is merged into the ABOUT ME biography section and her exhibitions having a separate section, each with photographs. I like the way she's dismantled the CV and spread it across the whole website, everything is still easy to find and I feel like it makes it less bulky and easier for quick reading.

As I haven't set up a website or anything yet so currently my CV is pretty disappointing visually, it doesn’t look any better than a simple word document and my images are seriously lacking, despite having far too many images from the past couple of projects I don't have any I feel represent my work or me as an artist as a whole. I have all the information needed I just need to work on the visuals but I think that will be easier once I've got the template of a website to work from.
