Willow coat hangers pt 2
After my last attempt at making a willow hanger was a some what success I decided to try again and improve visually. For the next hanger I decided to repeat the same process and techniques as the last piece but tried to make it thicker and more basket like by weaving more pieces into the hanger. This did make it look slightly messier and almost bird nest like but I like that natural and imperfect look. For the second hanger I decided to try make a different style all together, this time trying achieve the complete opposite going for a more minimalist style. For this hanger I made the same basic frame shape I've used for the past two but this time I didn't weave any willow around the frame, leaving it completely plain, instead I split a few lengths of wet willow to get the outer coating to use as an almost willow twine or string for binding the corners. Alone I like the minimalist hanger the best but with the clothes hung I prefer the look of the weaved hanger as I feel it visually feeds into the work better.
