 Exhibition set up

Myself and Yang, a classmate, went to help with the show set up of Nottingham college's art and design showcase at Nottingham contemporary. Each course has a booth within the large room to display some physical work along with a few tables, work was also projected through a few show reels so the physical work chosen was just a snippet of work created within the courses. Getting there myself and yang realised that there wasn't really other students helping with the set up, only staff so it was a bit daunting but we were asked to be there, were with our tutor and it was a good opportunity to gain more exhibition set up experience, especially with it being in a nice gallery like the contemporary. We set up our booth, choosing a more spaced clean style so the contrast in the differing styles of work could compliment each other rather than looking cluttered, we also helped with a few other small tasks like labelling and sorting. Two of My soft signs from the previous landscape project were being displayed, I was very happy about this as I really liked the work from that project and hadn't had a chance to show it anywhere, we also had four current prints from fellow classmates end of year projects and a sign from one of the 3rd years. We had brought some other pieces with us but we felt this was visually enough. One of my favourite parts of our booth was the tall pink chair, the pink chair isn't a piece of work any of us made its simply a chair taken from the café that we used as a stool to put the work up, it was just moved to the side under one of the prints and unintentionally it worked so we kept it there for the show.
