 Initial project ideas   

The self written projects are always the most difficult for me to get started with, when theirs a brief if I don't like the topic I find it easy to flip it and adapt ideas to fit, yet when there is no set brief I  think about all the very different things I want to do, get overwhelmed by possibilities and just struggle find a place to start. I have been going through this cycle for about two weeks but after a conversation this morning I feel I have narrowed down a starting point. One of the ideas I've had from the beginning was too work like the idea of bathrooms some how, Investigate and approach the topic in a similar way to the bedside tables in portrait project, although not just working with sent images and books this time. 

I like the idea of bathrooms and toilets, they are intimate spaces. A bathroom or toilet interests me as I guess these places can mean and symbolise different things based on people. With anxiety my main symptom or fear has revolved around being sick, constantly searching out bathrooms as escape routes. Bad experiences with a few past partners where physical sensations during intimacy were confused with anxiety symptoms, basically literally being sick when it came to intimacy. A bathroom is the place we bathe. The 5 minutes drunk friendships you can find in bathrooms where strangers console and compliment each other. The obvious shitting. I mean I've been into bathrooms in bars where they have twin toilets so you can go to the toilet with your friends. I have a few reasons but I just think their interesting places, that's weird to say as its the place designed for us to go to the toilet but I think its more than that and well we all have bodies so its not gross in reality. 

I currently like the idea of talking to people in bathrooms, like inviting people to be interviewed in a bathroom and just talk about random and intimate things. I think my creativity can come through in the many forms of documenting it, using different tech, photography and then perhaps turning into something further. Yesterday we took a visit to the hub to see the sound facilities but were also shown around a few other rooms we could possibly use, rooms like the photography and tv studios. I like the idea of trying to use these spaces within this project.
