Film cameras
I was recently given two old film cameras from a family friend, I was told they had been sat in a box in a spare room for many years and they weren't sure if they worked or not. I knew I wanted to try use them within this project so needed to try find someone with more knowledge than myself. I did a little research online and found out the first camera is a agfa super silette vario, a German camera from the 50s/60s, the second camera is a Meikai El 204, a Japanese camera aimed towards children, this camera is more of a point and shoot nature with only 3 exposure options, Both Camera being 35m film. I'm very interested to see how the qualities vary.
I called up a local photography shop and explained they recommended a few places, Plan b retro in Hopkinson's was one of the places recommended. I contacted them and they told me to bring them in, the guy was extremely helpful, gave me a few tips on cleaning up the cameras and told me both cameras seem to be working fine and were ready to go. I got the same black and white film I'm familiar with and loaded up both cameras. I decided it would ultimately be best to load up and test both cameras simultaneously due to their different nature. I'm currently taking a variety of different photos, some of toilets, some cats and friends, places with different light, basically just experimenting to see how each camera performs and practicing getting to grips with them before committing them to the project.
