 Apology flowers video process  

Last Wednesday i filmed the "apology" flowers video with the help of my tutor and yang. This is a video where i get repeatedly hit in the face with a bunch of flowers. I've had this video planned for a while but i struggled to find a place to film it. I knew i wanted a clean white studio space, neither stony st or adams building had a place suitable. The hub has these facilities but no one ever replied to the photography technicians email. This was a little annoying, but it was ok, i spoke to Julian and he took us to Trent to film in the studio there, this was a big help to the overall making and appearance of the video. The video for me was easy to do and take part in, I just had to stand there and get hit, just try stay still, void, I've had plenty of practice dissociating my way through verbal assault, assault by flowers doesn’t really differ that much. I think the video was hardest for Yang, she was really hesitant to hit me, light with some of slapping. I of course explained the video to her before hand, asked if she was comfortable to take part and of course she was. But after we had finished filming it did seem to of effected her, she hugged me tight, told me it made her want to cry. We spoke on the walk back and she was ok. This sort of thing has never arisen in my work before, something to be mindful of in future.  I am very pleased with my final outcome, i belive it looks clean and conveys my ideas well. I showed the video during our previous group presentations, I was nervous but people seemed to get it. I will show this video during the final show, i want to display it on a screen, the video is so crisp i think it would be a shame to possible lose some of that with projection.
