Studio practice
Exhibition poster
As mentioned in my previous i offered to make the posters for both shows, this was a choice as i do have a lot of work on already completing the main project, yet i was happy to undertake this task as it gave me more practice to work on my digital designing skills. Building practice in this area has been something I've been looking to do, this area of work is something I've thought could be a slight finical stream when leaving the course. I could commission designing posters and other media for events, parties, etc.
When designing both posters i began with this one. For the layout i was told we wanted a large image, main title and small minimal text at the bottom. I made the main layout just using the hand image, i chose the black and white colour theme to work with that image but it seems to be a universal fit for all. I had noticed a trend of fragment titles in recent posters id seen so thought it would be current and visually pleasing. The hand image is quite obscure, i decided that would be the whole vibe of the poster, i think the fragment text feeds into this. I downloaded the main title type face from online, it was called "Balacar", I liked how it was bold and straight but also strangely round and curved, i like the modern font. The text again very minimal, keeping a clean appearance. When adding the courses Instagram, my tutor suggested using the camera icon from road signs as it looks like a large format camera, this was a good choice, it fits well on the poster.
