Artist contact card
The business cards i designed arrived in the post. When designing something that’s going to be externally printed there’s always a slight worry about how it may arrive. I decided to print with Canva wich I have used before for publications, they arrived exactly as seen on the design I made.
I think I mentioned in the previous design post that I often find it hard to visually market myself as an artist. As I do photography, performance and publication making I find it hard to find the right visual, most photos seem to randomly commercial, for a long time it felt like I could only really use text. Everything I previously came up with just felt boring, no different to a card from an accountant etc. This design finally feels fitting, it kind of looks like a color swatch card so that instantly gives it a language of creativity, my image in an opaque layer makes it mine and fitting to the current work. I decided not to add any artist statement, I thought if I make it universal any left over can be reused. I chose the typeface for my name as it makes an impact, I also think it makes sense with the often digital nature of my work.
Overall I’m very happy with the cards and I think they represent me well as an artist.
