Paste up process/result
After waiting a day for the pink paint to dry it was time to paste up my large image. When researching I found most paste up artists use either a homemade wheat paste or wallpaper paste, I thought about using wallpaper paste but I begrudged buying anymore supplies when my initial aim was to keep it low budget. When researching about how PVA would work I found the main point was too keep the glue as thin as possible as PVA has a tendency to be thick and glossy. I made up a mixture of glue and water at a ratio of 1:2, I used warm water as it broke down the glues consistency better. Pasting the image to the board was pretty easy, I just brushed glue onto the board placed the image and brushed glue back over the paper to get it as flat to the board as possible. The process probably took less than an hour for the whole thing and was quite relaxing. I was very pleased with how well the image fit to the size of the board, I had pre-measured everything but often find my precision with things like that can sometimes be off so I was worried beforehand yet this time I got it right.
I had originally planned for the A board to be positioned in the middle of the main room as shown in the picture below. The board looked very effective from a distance as you first walked in the room, however when it came to it there were a few issues with students not having a displaying place yet. One of the other students had there space put directly behind the board, i did really like the visual effect of the board in this position yet decided to move it near my screen space as I felt it wasn't really fair to partially block the other students work. As I've moved the board into the screen space the side of the board with the shelf on cant be seen anymore, to tackle this I've just decided to make some shelves for the wall that the books could go on. I of course would of preferred to stick to my original plan, but things happen in the setting up process that just mean you have to be open to adapting those plans and I think the layout I've come up with still visually works quite well.
